Frequently asked questions
What PDF files does Disclosure Checklist Agent support?
The automation supports text-based PDF financial statements. Scanned PDFs and image-heavy PDFs produce lower quality suggestions because the Disclosure Review agent reads text directly from the document. For best results, use PDFs that contain selectable text rather than scanned page images.
Excel, Word, and image files are not supported. Only PDF financial statements can be used as the source document for the automation. Ensure the PDF has been uploaded to your engagement.
How accurate are the suggestions?
Internal testing across US GAAP engagements shows that approximately 85% of suggestions are accepted without change in typical engagements. Accuracy varies by question type — straightforward disclosure checks where the answer is clearly present in the financial statement produce more reliable suggestions than judgment-based questions or questions involving amounts that need precise verification.
Where the Disclosure Review agent cannot find sufficient evidence to suggest an answer with confidence, it leaves the question unanswered for manual review rather than making a low-confidence suggestion. These flagged items are where your professional judgment is most needed.
How long does the automation take to run?
A typical run takes between 5 and 15 minutes depending on the size of the financial statement and the number of checklist questions. The automation processes in the background — you do not need to stay on the page while it runs. When processing is complete, the checklist panel updates with the Disclosure Review agent's suggestions.
Can I run the automation more than once?
Yes. You can run the automation up to three times per engagement. This allows you to rerun after the financial statement is updated or corrected. When you rerun, the Disclosure Review agent processes the document you select and generates a fresh set of suggestions. Previously reviewed suggestions are not carried forward — complete your review before rerunning if you want to preserve your earlier responses.
Can I use Disclosure Checklist Agent on an existing engagement?
At GA, Disclosure Checklist Agent is available on new engagements created after your firm's enablement date. It is not available on engagements created before that date.
Who can access Disclosure Checklist Agent in my firm?
Disclosure Checklist Agent is available to all users with access to an enabled OnPoint DAS engagement. There is no separate permission required within the engagement — if the engagement was created after your firm's enablement date and you can open the disclosure checklist, the automation is available to you.
For questions about firm-level enablement, contact your firm administrator. For more information, see What is Disclosure Checklist Agent?
Does Disclosure Checklist Agent replace my professional judgment?
No. The automation drafts suggested answers based on evidence in the financial statement, but you review every suggestion before it is saved. You decide whether each suggestion is correct, choose a different answer if it is not, and manually answer questions the agent flags as requiring professional judgment. Responsibility for all conclusions and documentation remains with you.
What frameworks does Disclosure Checklist Agent support?
At GA, Disclosure Checklist Agent supports US GAAP disclosure checklists. Support for additional frameworks — including UK FRS 102, Australian AASB, and Canadian ASPE — is coming in 2026.
Is my client data safe?
Your client's financial statement data is processed within your Caseware Cloud environment and is not used to train AI models. Data is not shared between firms.
Troubleshooting
The automation is taking a long time
Processing typically takes 5 to 15 minutes. If the status indicator has been showing for longer than 20 minutes without completing, try the following:
-
Navigate away from the engagement and return to the disclosure checklist. The automation may have completed while you were away.
-
If the processing status is still showing after returning, close the engagement and reopen it.
-
If the issue persists, contact your Caseware administrator or Caseware support.
The automation failed to complete
If the Disclosure Checklist Agent view shows a processing failed message, try the following:
-
Select Rerun to retry. Transient errors are often resolved by rerunning.
-
Check that the financial statement PDF contains selectable text and is not a scanned image or image-only PDF.
-
Try uploading the PDF again. A corrupted upload may cause a processing failure.
-
If none of the above resolves the issue, contact Caseware support with the engagement details.
Note: You have a maximum of three automation runs per engagement. If you exhaust your runs on troubleshooting, contact Caseware support.
No suggestions are appearing after the automation completes
If the checklist panel shows no suggestions after the automation has finished processing, try the following:
-
Refresh the page and return to the disclosure checklist. Suggestions may not have rendered immediately.
-
Check whether a different checklist is selected in the checklist dropdown. Suggestions are generated for the checklist that was active when the automation ran.
-
If no suggestions appear for any checklist section, the financial statement PDF may not contain sufficient selectable text. Check the PDF and rerun with a better quality document if available.
Some checklist questions have no suggestion
This is expected behavior. The Disclosure Review agent does not generate a suggestion for every question. Questions that require professional judgment that cannot be reliably determined from the financial statement alone are left blank for you to answer manually. These items are clearly indicated in the checklist panel.
A citation is not linking to the expected location in the PDF
Citations may occasionally point to a nearby passage rather than the exact sentence or paragraph. If a citation does not appear to match the suggestion, try the following:
-
Check the surrounding text on the same page — the relevant passage may be adjacent to where the PDF viewer has scrolled to.
-
Check nearby pages — the citation may be off by a page in documents with complex layouts or multi-column formatting.
-
If the citation is clearly incorrect and the suggestion appears to be based on the wrong evidence, select a different answer and apply your own judgment.
Citation accuracy is continuously evaluated and improved across releases. Use the thumbs-down feedback button to report citations that are significantly off — this helps improve accuracy for future runs.
I reran the automation and my previous suggestions are gone
When you rerun the automation, the Disclosure Review agent generates a fresh set of suggestions from the document you select. Previously reviewed suggestions, reasoning, and citations are not preserved across runs. However, answers you had already approved and saved to your engagement are retained.
To avoid losing work, complete your full review of a run before rerunning. If your financial statement has changed, note which sections you had already reviewed so you can prioritize those in the new run.
The Verity Disclosure Checklist Agent button is not visible
If you do not see the Verity Disclosure Checklist Agent option on the Verity panel, check the following:
-
Confirm you are working in a solution that supports the Disclosure Checklist Agent. Disclosure Checklist Agent is currently available in some solutions. To request access to Verity, contact your Caseware account manager.
-
If your engagement meets both criteria and the button is still not visible, contact your firm administrator to confirm your firm's enablement status.
I need to give feedback on a suggestion
Select the thumbs-up or thumbs-down icon on any suggestion to submit feedback directly to the Caseware product team. Thumbs-down feedback opens a dialog where you can select the issue type (incorrect suggestion, incorrect evidence, poor reasoning, or other) and add a note. This feedback is used to improve suggestion accuracy in future releases. For more information, see Use Disclosure Checklist Agent.
