Prepare imported data
This functionality allows you to run a data preparation independently from the data import.
For example, this may be necessary if you have not selected the Start the data preparation immediately after the import option in the Standard Import Routine wizard. In this case the data has only been imported but has not been prepared in the way required by the audit tests in the Analytics P2P app. This means that you now have to run the data preparation as a separate step.
However, the Prepare imported data step can also be used to run a data preparation repeatedly – e.g. with different parameters – without the need to import the data again each time.
The dialog lists all imports which you have done in the current IDEA project using a Standard Import Routine.
Each run is listed separately. The different columns contain details on each run, e.g. status, name of the Standard Import Routine used, date and time of the run, selected audit folder, number of imported databases and (provided that a data preparation has already taken place) number of output databases.
This way you can distinguish between different runs.
To run a data preparation (again) proceed as follows:
- Select the desired entry from the list.
- Refer to the information in the Status column to check whether a data preparation has already been run for this entry.
- If you have run the data preparation already as part of the data import, the Status column displays a green checkmark
, which indicates that a data preparation has already been successfully completed. - If you have imported data but have not yet performed any data preparation, a red square
(as of IDEA version 12: a blue cross
)will appear in the Status column indicating that the data preparation is not yet ready. - Depending on which one of the two options above applies, you have the following alternatives:
- If the data preparation has already been run, you can either run it again with the same parameters (in this case, please continue with step 4) or you can change the parameters of the data preparation by clicking the Edit entry in the Input column and following the instructions (see the information in the data import help topic).
- If no data preparation has been performed yet, you have to define the parameters of the data preparation by clicking the Define entry in the Input column and following the instructions (see the information in the data import help topic). The status changes from a red square
(as of IDEA version 12: a blue cross
) to a blue arrow
, which indicates that the data preparation is ready to be run. - In the list select the checkbox of the entry for which you want to perform a data preparation and click the
Run icon in the toolbar. - In the Progress column a progress bar shows the progress of running the data preparation. If the data preparation has been completed successfully, the Status column will show a green checkmark
.

When the required data preparations are completed, close the Prepare Imported Data dialog. You will return to the app workflow and can now continue with the next step Run audit tests.
