Files to be Imported

In this dialog box you can select which files will be imported using the Standard Import Routine. You also determine the file structure and decide how to proceed with files that have been renamed.

Step-by-Step

  1. You can select the files that will be imported in two different ways:
  • Click Add files to the list and select the file(s) or a batch import file (index.xml) and click Open. The file name in the File Name, File Alias, Business Name and Mask fields will be applied automatically. To modify the applied values click in the corresponding field and overwrite the values. If you have selected a batch import file, all required information is available. You can only select a batch import file or other files.
  • The second option is to create a new file clicking Add new file.
  1. In the Global Settings area you can specify for all files to be imported how they will be identified. There are two possible values: File Name and Business Name. In case of a non-GoDB import File Name is the only available value. The default value is File Name.
  2. The files can be identified by their file name or business name. The business name is the name that will be used for the file after the import. The entry in the All files will be identified by field applies for all files in the list. The files must not be identified by different names. File Name is the proposed value. This specification can only be changed for batch import files. If you change this value, it will also be changed for all other files in the list.
  3. In the File Alias field enter a name. This name will also be displayed in the File Alias area. Every file will be identified by the alias name. Therefore this name is mandatory and has to be unique.
  4. In the field Display Name when Missing enter the string to be shown in case the current file cannot be found when importing the data. By default the field contains the same value as the business name.
  5. In the Mask field you can enter a set of characters that will be used to identify the files required by the Standard Import Routine. The set of characters will be used for the currently selected file.
  6. In the Type field you can define whether wildcards or regular expressions will be used for the search. If you use regular expressions, the name will be compared to the regular expression. This enables you to search for all words from a list that start or end with a specific letter, regardless of the letters in between and the number of letters.
  7. The Mandatory option defines whether or not it is mandatory to import a file. If you select No, the user can decide during the import if the file will be imported or not. If you select Yes, the file will be imported automatically.
  8. If you have created files or selected files from a directory, you have to create a structure for each file. This is done using File Structure. In case the data structure is missing the Standard Import Routine object cannot be used as part of an app. For a batch file import this option is not available because the data structure is already defined.
  9. Click Duplicate file entry to duplicate the selected alias name with all assigned values. This is useful if the file name was modified but the structure of the file remained the same for the most part. If you have duplicated a file, you have to change at least the alias name before you can save the file.

To create an At-least-one-of group and assign files

If file names have been changed, you can define that at least one of the files has to be imported using the At-least-one-of Groups tab. This ensures that either the file with the old name or the file with the new name will be imported. If the delivered data contains both files, both files will be imported. If neither one of the files are available, a warning will be prompted or the import cannot be run respectively.

Step-by-Step

  1. Click Create a new group to create a new group
  2. Enter a name and confirm with Enter. The name of a group has to be unique. Click Edit the selected group name to change the name.
  3. To assign a file to a group you have to select the alias name of a file and the name of the corresponding group and assign the name by clicking the arrow of the group. The alias name of the file will be highlighted in grey.
  4. To delete a group click its name and click Delete the selected group.

As long as the At-least-one-of Groups tab is active you cannot add any files.
