General Filter Templates

In this dialog box you can add general filter templates from and to a SmartExporter Data Request.

After opening the dialog box a general filter template is shown, if available.

If you do not have any general filter template but the XML contains general filter templates, some general filter templates will be sketched from the general filters but they will be incomplete and you have to finalize them.

Icons for general filter templates

Step-by-Step

  1. To add a new template click the Add New Template icon. A new row is added below the currently highlighted row. If there is already an empty line, you cannot add a new row.
  2. In the General Properties area click the arrow in the Template ID field and select a value from the list. Usually the ID is the SAP field name used for this template. The list of proposed IDs contains all field names used in the selected request file. You can also enter an ID manually. This way IDs will be proposed after entering the first letter if there is a value in the list starting with this letter. You can also enter any other ID but it has to be unique in the whole list. In case there is a duplicate ID, both values appear in the list in red color.
  3. Decide whether the general filter template should be mandatory or not by clicking the concerning check box.
  4. Select the language for the template.
  5. In the Template Name field enter a name for the template. This value is mandatory.
  6. In the Field Type field select the data type of the field which shall be used in a filter by clicking the arrow.
  7. Depending on the data type selected, fields for the length and the decimal places are shown. Enter the according values.
  8. Click the Add Expansion Filter icon to add one or more filters. A new tab containing the name of the selected field used by the equation will be shown. Each field has its own tab. Select a field name from the list. The list contains all unique field names of all tables from the selected Data Request file. Field names are collected only from the general filter templates and tables in the request. No fields are collected from general filters and tables inside joins.
  9. Select an operator by clicking the arrow in the Operator field.
  10. In Select Related Table(s) all tables of the current file which are using the selected field are shown. Select one or more tables by clicking the corresponding check boxes. It is not mandatory to select a table. Use Remove Expansion Filter to remove the currently opened tab.
  11. Click Apply and Close to apply your entries and close the dialog box. The general filters will be added to the Data Request xml. Applying the changes will overwrite the preexisting filter information in the xml file. You cannot reset your changes and start again defining general filter templates based on preexisting general filter information.
