Working Papers stops responding when sync files can’t connect

Issue

Working Papers stops responding when a sync file can’t connect to CaseWare Cloud (Cloud) or SmartSync Server (SSS).

Solution

To continue working on a sync copy, you’ll need to change the SmartSync startup settings.

To change the SmartSync startup settings:

  1. If Working Papers remains unresponsive, use Task Manager to end the application.
  2. Launch Working Papers. On the File menu, click Options.
  3. In the Options dialog, select General from the Properties menu.
  4. Under SmartSync, select Offline in the Startup drop-down menu.
  5. Click OK.

Sync files will now start in an offline state and will respond normally. Change your Synchronization Status to online (Cloud | Go Online or SmartSync | Go Online). When your connection to Cloud or SSS returns, you can change the Startup option back to Default.
