Slower performance in Windows XP SP2
Problem:
Since upgrading from version 2008 to 2009, performance of processes involving CaseView documents may have deteriorated. Processes which normally take a few seconds may be as long as a minute.
Solution:
The cause for these performance issues relates to a bug in Win XP SP2 networking which causes significant delays during the copy of CaseView documents. The specific bug description and hotfix can be found on the Microsoft site here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894463/.
There are also numerous other networking related bugs fixed in Windows XP SP3 which could benefit users accessing engagement files over a network and dealing with performance and data corruption. As such, the Working Papers system requirements have been updated to require Service Pack 3 when using a Windows XP workstation.
