DOCUMENTS
Watermark Option
  • Introduced a watermark option for billing invoices, miscellaneous invoices, or credit notes in which you consider all documents a copy after the invoices/credit notes have been initially emailed or printed.
    • Company Profile
      Added the “Watermark on copies” option to the Company Profile dialog in the Invoices tab and Credit Notes tab. This option must be selected to ensure the “copy” watermark appears on all copies of invoices and credit notes. Once selected, any documents that are emailed or printed after the first copy will have the copy watermark displayed.
    • Protection
      Created a protection feature for invoices or credit notes when the “Watermark on Copies” option has been enabled in which only users with proper rights can reprint the original document without the watermark. In the CaseView document, from the Options menu, there is a selection called “Copy watermark” that allows users with proper rights to disable the watermark.
Document Properties
  • Changed the Filter and Alternate Code Properties so they are not blanked out if the document type, format, or grouping of a report is changed. These filters will be validated and, if valid, the filter will remain unchanged. If they are invalid, a message will notify the user to change the properties.
Automatic Documents
  • Staff work code rates monitor – Added all work code rates for staff for the period selected.
  • Client/group detail – Added the email addresses for the contacts.
  • Time journal – Added the subtotal amount in the Time Journal.
  • Credit note journal – Enhanced the credit note number format so that it is sorted properly when sorted by credit note number.
  • Trial balance, Integrated WIP and AR – Included the current inactive clients in the properties of the reports when the prior period dates are selected.
  • WIP summary total amounts – Improved the report so that it now calculates the “Current Period” balance based on the “To Date” selected in the properties.
DOCUMENT MANAGER
  • Corrected the issue of displaying misaligned folders in the Document Manager.
EQUATION EDITOR
  • Added the File Location and Invoice Style fields, as well as a flag for Batch Email/Print to the client table filters.
ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE
Cash Receipts
  • Enhanced the Apply to Invoice dialog so that when it’s closed, the focus returns to the applied receipt.
  • Increased the speed when printing deposits from the Cash Receipt dialog.
CLIENTS
  • Fixed the type-ahead functionality for the client lookup list, so it now finds the correct record when sorting by client number.
Alternate Codes
  • Introduced Alternate Code date and description filters to the list of fields reports can be filtered on.
STAFF
Timers
  • Fixed an issue in which lower case values were not being processed properly.
INTERFACE
User Profile
  • Fixed the “Date” filtering used in the User Profile for certain reports where the document properties date was being erroneously used instead of the user profile date.
PROTECTION
Rights
  • Introduced a new protection right, called “Invoice/Credit Note: Reprint original document”, under the Documents category. When enabled, this option allows users to reprint or re-email any documents without the copy watermark.
  • Added protection for the following functions based on the user’s maintenance rights:
    • Copy Database to Another SQL Server,
    • Change Time File Name, and
    • Change SQL connection settings.
DIAGNOSTICS
  • Receivables Diagnostics – Resolved an issue in which the receivable diagnostics, “E109 Deposit - GL data does not equal AR”and “E110 Deposit - GL data out of balance”, were not functioning properly. This was due to the same reference number being used in both deposit and recurring invoice records.
  • Added a new error message called “E122 – Cash Receipt – Invalid GL Data” to the Receivables Diagnostics report.
MAINTENANCE
  • Added additional messages to verify that the user wants to continue when performing the following functions:
    • Copy Database to Another SQL Server,
    • Change Time File Name, and
    • Change SQL connection settings.
Backup/Restore
  • Introduced the ability to perform the backup/restore functions on operating systems with different languages. These languages include English, Dutch, German, Spanish, and French.
Repair
  • Enhanced the repair functionality so that it now fixes errors reported by the Receivable diagnostic, “E110: Deposit - GL out of balance”.
QUICKVIDS
  • Created QuickVids to demonstrate the key functionality of certain features in Time. QuickVids, which are short flash video tutorials, are designed to help users learn about the key Time features. When browsing the help, if a QuickVid is available, there will be a link to it on the CaseWare website. The following QuickVids are now available for Time:
    • Alternate Codes
    • Equation Editor
    • Project Conversion
    • Year End Close.
CLIENT BATCH EMAIL/PRINT
  • Introduced PDF security settings for PDF documents that are emailed using the Client Batch Email/Print dialog. When the batch is processed, the user can select the PDF security options for that batch.
  • Fixed the Email only option so that when selected, it only emails the Word and Excel documents, instead of printing them as well.
  • Resolved any issues related to using the characters “,” and “;” in the batch set name.
  • Fixed an issue when deleting a batch set. When batch sets are deleted, the action is now saved properly.
  • Corrected any issues related to printing client labels in the Client Batch Email/Print dialog.

Requirements

WORKSTATIONS
Operating systems

  • One of the following operating systems:
  • Microsoft Windows® 7 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows® Vista Service Pack 1 or Higher
  • Microsoft Windows® XP Professional Service Pack 2 or higher (Recommended)
  • Microsoft Windows® 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 or higher (Note: See here for Microsoft’s end-of-support policy for Windows 2000.)

Hard disk requirements

  • Minimum 100 MB for the Time application
  • Minimum 100 MB for each Time company file. The size of the company files will vary depending on the features used and the amount of data entered.


Hardware

  • Pentium III or higher required
  • Minimum 512 MB RAM. For improved performance or with Windows Vista, 1024 MB or more is recommended.
  • SVGA monitor capable of 256 colors and 800 x 600 resolution is required. A monitor with 1280 x 1024 resolution or higher is recommended. Dual monitors are supported.
  • CD-ROM drive. The Time product is distributed on CD-ROM.
  • Updates between CD releases are available as downloads from the CaseWare International Inc. website at www.caseware.com/support/time.
  • High-speed internet connection is recommended for downloading program updates.


Additional components

  • Microsoft® Internet Explorer® version 6.0 (SP2) or higher
  • Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® 5.0 or higher


SQL Server requirements

Time 2009 uses a SQL backend to store the Time 2009 data. The program is compatible with the following SQL products:

  • Microsoft® SQL Server® 2005
  • Microsoft® SQL ServerTM Express 2005. This is a free version of Microsoft SQL that Time 2009 will install (if required).
    • The system requirements are as follows:
    • Minimum 4 GB hard disk space per database
    • Minimum 1 GB RAM
    • 1 CPU – you can install and run SQL Server on multiprocessor machines, but only 1 CPU is used at any time.
  • Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008
  • Microsoft® SQL Server® Express 2008
  • Microsoft® SQL Server® 2000
  • Microsoft® MSDE 2000 – has a limit of eight connections.

 

FILE SERVER/NETWORKS
If using Time with more than five timekeepers or large volumes of data, it is recommended to use a dedicated server.

Per file server/network operating system recommendations

  • Microsoft Windows® Server 2003 Service Pack 2 or higher
  • Microsoft Windows® Server 2000 Service Pack 4 or higher (Note: See here for Microsoft’s end-of-support policy for Windows 2000.)

MICROSOFT TERMINAL SERVER
For users who access CaseWare products from multiple locations or would like to improve the speed accessing their files within the same location we suggest exploring Microsoft® Terminal Services.
This multi-user server provides the ability to host multiple, simultaneous client sessions. Terminal Server is capable of directly hosting compatible multi-user client desktops running on a variety of Windows-based and non-Windows-based hardware.
Microsoft's Terminal Services can be further extended with the use of Citrix Systems Inc.'s Metaframe product line. The Metaframe product line improves performance, provides stronger security through encryption and authentication, and increases application accessibility.
